In 2017, with the LTO's mission accomplished, the organization officially changed its name to the Littleton Road Race & Track Organization (LRRTO) to reflect the group's work to host the annual Littleton Road Race.
Littleton's newly constructed track and field facility opened for the 2013 spring track season. The Littleton Track Organization has been working since 2008 towards the goal of a safe and usable track and field facility that can be enjoyed by all Littleton residents.
Construction of the new track facility began on June 25, 2012. The track is now complete and opened in March of 2013.

Saturday, November 19, 2011. Littleton voters approved a debt exclusion to fund the track reconstruction at the Special Town Election. The vote was 472 "yes" to 299 "no" (with one blank ballot) — a 60% approval. This is the last step in the funding process!
I am very happy that the voters of Littleton again showed their support and voted to fund the reconstruction of our track facility. It is wonderful that our community will once again have a safe and usable track for students and residents to use. This vote represents the final approval of a project that has been carefully planned with Town residents and leaders over the past three years, and I am grateful for the many people whose hard work and support have made this outcome possible.

The reconstruction of the track and field facility will go before Town Meeting on Monday, November 14th, 2011, and the town election on Saturday, November 19th. The Board of Selectman has voted to insert the following article on the warrant:
ARTICLE 3 - Board of Selectmen - Borrowing Authorization: Reconstruct Track Facility
To see if the Town will vote to borrow a sum or sums of money to be expended under the direction of the Permanent Municipal Building Committee for the purpose of reconstructing the track facility located on Town-owned property at 55 Russell Street, including original equipment and landscaping, paving and other site improvements incidental or directly related thereto; and that to meet this appropriation, the Treasurer, with the approval of the Board of Selectmen, is authorized to borrow said sum under and pursuant to Chapter 44, Section 7(25), of the General Laws, or pursuant to and any other enabling authority, and to issue bonds or notes of the Town therefor, provided that such amount shall be contingent upon successful passage of a debt exclusion referendum pertaining thereto on a town ballot; or to take any other action in relation thereto.
The School Committee voted unanimously to set amount of funding requested at $735,000. This figure is based upon the latest estimate ($705,000 for the base bid; $30,000 soft costs) obtained by the Permanent Municipal Building Committee (PMBC) from Gale Associates.
The Board of Selectmen voted unanimously to put a debt exclusion question on the ballot of the special town election (Saturday, November 19, 2011) and include the borrowing authorization article in the special town meeting (Monday, November 14, 2011).
The PMBC, School Committee, Gale Associates, and the LTO have worked during the past year on the plans to reconstruct the track and field facility. The construction documents are almost finalized, and these documents are available at the Reuben Hoar Library (May 30, 2011).
Article 9 was approved on a voice vote at the May 3 Annual Town Meeting.
Concurring with the School Committee and Littleton Track Organization, the Board of Selectmen unanimously voted to support Site 1, the Existing Track Parcel, and to recommend for the May 3, 2010 Annual Town Meeting Article 9, Track Design and Development, in the amount of $35,000 to be transferred from Free Cash.
ATM Article 9 § Board of Selectmen § Track Design and Development §
To see if the Town will vote to amend the action taken under Article 11 of the Annual Town Meeting held on May 4, 2009, and to raise and appropriate, and/or transfer from available funds, an additional sum of up to $35,000 to be expended by the Permanent Municipal Building Committee, as directed by the Town Meeting , to continue the design and development of a track and/or multi-purpose field facility and for expenses incidental and related thereto, or to take any other action in relation thereto.
The conditions of the old track, which was constructed in 1979, posed safety hazards for the residents and athletes who used it, as well as liability risks to the town.
